Educate Together and Second Level education are finally a match

The announcement by Minister for Education and Skills, Ruairi Quinn, that Educate Together will be involved in the patronage of two new second-level schools planned to open in 2013 and 2014 has brought great excitement and joy to the whole Educate Together family and organisation . Bridge21, sharing a similar educational philosophy and having been involved in many collaborative projects with Educate Together, offer them our warmest congratulations now and into the future.

This is a truly historic occasion as Educate Together becomes the first new entrant to second-level education since the 1930s. The new schools will be located in Dublin 15 and Drogheda and as Emer Nowlan, Head of Education and Network Development said:

“We are particularly happy to be working in partnership with Co. Louth VEC in Drogheda, and with Co. Dublin VEC in South Lucan. Educate Together is committed to working in close partnership with the State and local communities to provide high quality schools which meet the needs of modern Irish society”.

Earlier this week a celebratory get together was organised in the Science Gallery and all volunteers, helpers, staff and contributors (including Claire and Ciarán) were present to enjoy the occasion and reflect on many years of hard and dedicated work in order to finally achieve this great moment in time.

We are certain this is only the beginning and we all look forward, in the years ahead, to Educate Together Secondary Schools contributing to our children’s education over the whole length and breadth of Ireland.
