Over 280 Transition Year students attended the Bridge2College graduation ceremony in Trinity College. The ceremony was held in the old dining hall and special guests on the day included the Pro-Chancellor of the University, Professor Petros Florides, and Mr. Paddy Cosgrave.
The graduation marked the end of another successful year for the programme, during which, the participants got to stretch their talents and their teamwork skills in areas such as computer programming, film, music and teaching.
It was great for us to see so many familiar faces from the year gone by and it was a chance for the students to catch up with some of the friends they made while taking part in the programme.
Professor Florides shared some inspirational words on education with the students and was on hand to present the certificates to each graduate. Three of our volunteer mentors, Ciaran Bauer, Claire Hayden and Grace Lawlor did a super job calling out the students’ names to receive their certificates on stage.
Paddy Cosgrave told the stories of individuals who have achieved great success in various fields and presented the medals to the various award winners. The boys from Drimnagh Castle CBS received several nominations and individual awards and the coveted Team of the Year award went to Amomonous, a team which included students from Colaiste Bride and Moyle Park.
We’d like to say a big thank you to everyone who came along on the day. To the teachers, without whose help and good will the programme would be impossible to organise. To the mentors, who give so much time and energy throughout the year. To our special guests, who helped make the event itself such a great occasion. And thank you and congratulations to all the students, whose enthusiasm and cooperation made the programme so much fun to be a part of this year.
